nefarious,salubrious,incongrous!

Nobody uses big words like the nigerian. It definitely is the curse of the nation. The hoi-polloi of our great commonwealth believe thyat spewing forth sentences filled with haute-sounding words passes them off as erudite. The use of less pretentious words actually facilitates the conveyance of any message witouth your audience needing a lexicon to decipher your ramblings.
I for one would never be caught dead usingunnecessarily supercilious words,or would I?

hokum!

i have the most amazing thing for the big screen;tom cruise, russel crowe, julia roberts, arnord shwarze-cant spell his name;the point is,i love movies.so,it really grinds my nuts when i see a bunch of semi-illeterate(they are mostly not smart enough to be illeterate)goons passing off as movie stars in the Nigerian firmament.
Dont get me wrong,i think there is a sky full of genuine ,top class movie makers and actors,i just think we have far too many lame stories.
I wont try to profer solutions, cos i honestly dont have any but i think first things first, the new generation of actors are simply not good looking(enough).we all know they can barely speak talk more of act.
But then who am i to preach. My only claim to acting experience was acting "daddy" with a bunch of other five year olds, and yes, hokum is an english word.

Sodom

A generation of amoral, decadent and anti-idealistic youth are about to be unleashed on Nigeria and we all would be alive to reap the fruits of decades of neglect of the intellectual and moral education of our youths.
Help!

poverty's bad but wars are worse

40 years ago Nigeria slid into anarchy, violence and murder.A blood feast has never seen,a killing orgy has never witnessed.the aim of this short narrative is not to point fingers or to even ask about the causes of such evil minded callousness but to ask if what lessons,if any have been learnt and if does lessons are being put into valuable use.
As the nation slides into anarchy once again in the niger delta(known cutely as the deep south),hope we would all avoid the mistakes of the past.

we all like sex

Well, before your mind wanders and you think i am about to give you an expose on mind bending, toe curling, brain frying coitus, think again.I am actually referring to sex as in gender.
Though wea all like to pretend that it does not matter,i have personally seen many a fathers go ballistic when there spouses give birth to a bouncing baby maradona, and yes, they try to seem excited when their bundle of girlie goodness arrives but the difference is most times unmistakable.
Even in work places, there seems to be an aversion to employing women to certain positions, you might say things seem to be better now but honestly speaking a few isolated cases in a million is not exactly canaan.
Last word is,be it a maradona or a madonna, they all come good in the end.

dead street fighter or docile survivor?

Walking home one very dark and late Wednesday night,it was exactly on the night ac Milan and liverpool played the final of the European champions league,i had just gotten to the last bend that led to my house when this very short(i call him very short cos i am what you would call short and i was still taller than this midget)jumped me and held a gun to my mid-riff;should i jump him back or should i play obedient;i did the right thing,a friend of mine was shot 2weeks later by possibly the same fellow.
Many marriages have been destroyed by cases where the wives have been harassed and the men have stayed quiet;it hurts when someone humiliates you and your husband cant do anything about it,but would you rather have a dead husband than a living coward?

broken backs or maybachs?

The whole idea of hardwork always leading to success may just be an overrated fantasy.I know people who have worked hard all their lives without the slightly rewards, maybe heaven might just be a welcome succor.
Not to say that all work and no play always leads to no gain but as a friend of mine likes to say;many roads lead to heaven.

fowl play

I have an absurd love of poultry;fried, boiled, grilled, baked;anyway chicken comes, believe me i wont chicken out.I think my love affair started as a little kid cos chicken was kind of a celebratory meal growing;birthdays, christmas, easter;i think you get the drill.but now, chicken is exactly what it is,chicken;so i guess i am kind of making up for lost time.

ma peoples

i know people who know people and this people invariably know people;bottom line,i know peoples.
I live in a society where standards and excellence as so often being disregarded for the sake of family and tribal ties.Yes you graduated top of your class but you know something,my sisters son kind of needs a job and yes i know he could only make graduation cos our uncle is the chancellor but you know what,he is a good kid and i am very sorry there is no space.
I believe we all should look inside our selves and decide if letting nepotism take the place of excellence is worth it in the long run;You never know, that little cousin you got a job for at the hospital just might kill you someday.

Loneliness in darkness plays tricks on the mind the most,Every corner hides a ghost,Forgotten thoughts come to the fore,Every sense is alive much more

first kisses.

Every ones first kiss often ignites a magical feeling,a feeling you might never be able to recapture but for some of us the magic of the first kiss might be hugely overrated.
Everybody rightly or not believes the first love should hold a special place in the heart well get this,I dont actually remember my first kiss.I dont think it was that bad,i just dont remember.
Maybe in another 20yrs i might have a night of massive recollection, where every thing of significance flashes through my mind but till then i would like to believe that my first kiss was my last kiss.
I love you.

White missionary:'let's go save the tree dwelling black man'

i saw my first computer about 15years ago, played my first cd about the same time and yes the tree i used to live on was cut down about a 100 years ago so i live in a pretty comfortable house.truth is,most perceptions about africa are not only wrong but criminal.Yes,we have wars, yes we have hunger, crime, corruption but dont we all have.its amazing that the average european or american kid thinks his counterparts in africa still swing on trees with monkeys.
And yes,i saw spiderman3 the very day it was released.

are we all crazy or what?

in africa, mad people, forgive me,mentally challenged individuals roaming the streets is a common feature due to the leck of institutions willing to take them in and families abandoning them but are all these mad people really mad?
in a continent where poverty and despondency abounds being mad serves as a good excuse to do things a sane person would be hard pressed to,like walking about naked, that definitely saves you a lot on clothes or eating from the trash.
We all have days when we wish we could just let it all go and be free, but watch it lest they call you mad.

mine

To know about me, you have to know about where i am from.Mine is a country of about 140 million people, countless ethnicities and languages, when i mean countless,i mean conviniently over a hundred. So,i could easily be at a market and be attended to by my fellow Nigerian market woman and i would not have the slightest idea what she is talking about. This might seem like a big confused house to you but we get around.
Our official language is Pidgin english, its an adulterated form of english that can be spoken from balding college professors to my grand mum who has never stepped a foot in a classroom.
Did i tell you that we have a new president?Sorry, and yes it is a beautiful country.I kind of liked the old president,he was a big, loud, subeducated man who had no respect for institutions, diplomacy and possibly the rule of law but he was a damned funny man.Reminds me of George.W.Bush excluding the funny part.He was not that good looking either.I saw him cry only once, when he lost his wife during plastic surgery even though we lost thousands of lives to accidental bomb blasts, petrol explosions, riots, murders and all.I guess he was not much of a crying man.
But my new president seems to be the exact opposite not to mention being well educated.
Did i remember to tell you that i am pretty young and that i am in my final year at medical school?i will be through by april.
I wont always talk about politics but i just feel to know me better,a little about my country wont hurt now, would it?
